What they do

Ernest Air Cooling Ltd is based at 8 Nursery Close in Shoreham-by-Sea, just outside Brighton and Hove. The site says Tim started the business in 2005, while Companies House shows the company was incorporated on 10 August 2011, which is 15 years. Tim is an F-gas certified engineer and, the site says, still works hands-on across every project.

It installs wall-mounted splits, multi-splits, ceiling cassettes, ducted systems and floor-standing units, for homes and for businesses including restaurants, hotels and retail. Every system is a reverse-cycle heat pump that heats and cools. It calls itself a Regency property specialist in Brighton.

Brands named are Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Samsung, Toshiba and Fujitsu. It covers Brighton, Hove, Worthing, Horsham and Haywards Heath, and says it works across the BN1, BN2 and BN3 postcodes. Servicing, repairs and emergency call-outs are listed too.

Credentials

F-gas: verified on the REFCOM register, certificate REF1013304, listed as "Ernest Air - Cooling" in Shoreham-by-Sea. The owner-engineer is also F-gas certified.

Companies House lists the company as active (number 07735735). The site says it is an authorised Daikin dealer, but we couldn't find it in Daikin's dealer locator on 10 October 2026 (the locator may lag). Its claims to be a certified installer for Mitsubishi Electric, Samsung and Toshiba haven't been checked against those makers' finders. It doesn't claim MCS.

Prices and warranty

Installed prices shown on the site (installation included; VAT status not stated):

  • Wall-mounted split, single room: £1,899 to £2,500.
  • Multi-split: £3,500 to £8,000.
  • Ceiling cassette: £2,500 to £4,000.
  • Ducted, whole property: £5,000 to £12,000+.
  • Servicing: from £95 plus VAT for one unit, with a lower price per unit for two or more.

Every installation comes with a 5-year workmanship guarantee as standard. Ask whether any manufacturer warranty sits on top of it.

Good to know

  • It is based in Shoreham-by-Sea, so it serves Brighton and Hove rather than sitting inside it.
  • The quote is promised within 24 hours on the contact page, and within 48 hours of the survey on the services page.
  • The survey is free: Tim visits, measures rooms and checks insulation, window orientation and heat sources.
  • Floor-standing units have a separate price on the site that we haven't listed.
  • The site's start date (2005) is earlier than the company's incorporation (2011), so ask whether the work history sits under a previous business.

Good fit if

  • Brighton and Hove homes, including period properties
  • Published installed prices by system type
  • Customers who want a 5-year workmanship guarantee

Maybe not if

  • You need a company based inside Brighton and Hove
  • You want a Google review count
